The Challenge: SeniorServ’s donor acknowledgement letters were simply that – acknowledgement of the receipt of a donation. Simple and straightforward, they gave donors the opportunity to be further involved with the organization, but didn’t do much to encourage this connection.
The Strategy: While it would be simple to correct grammar and spelling mistakes, the letters were notably impersonal, and didn’t do much to promote better donor relationships. In order to improve the letters, I researched client stories and added their testimonials in order to give the acknowledgements a more personal touch. The new narrative format of the letters bring the donor into the world of the client, forging a stronger bond between the two.
The Results: Donors now receive letters that include reflections and quotes from the very people they’ve helped, helping foster long-term relationships between the donor and the organization.
